JUNE 10th, 2012, CALISTOGA, CA – Fred Schrader, owner of Schrader Racing and proprietor of Schrader Cellars, swept two Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) T1 class victories this weekend at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Driving his GT4 Aston Martin on the famous Monterey Peninsula course, Schrader took first place in both SCCA Double Regional Races. Known worldwide for The Corkscrew – a length of track with extreme elevation change and hard hitting turns – the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca boasts a total of 11 turns over 2.238 miles.
As a competitor in the 2013 Aston Martin Global Challenge Schrader adds 20 points for each race win, 5 points for each pole, and 5 points for each fastest lap to earlier SCCA Club Racing victories at Thunderhill Raceway.
Schrader found his first love for fast cars racing Formula Fords on the East Coast circuit over thirty years ago, and has since embraced his status as an amateur racer. Last June Schrader competed in the Aston Martin Le Mans Festival Classic where he took third in class.
Outside of racing, Fred Schrader and wife Carol Colesworthy Schrader are producers of legendary Cabernet Sauvignon in the Napa Valley. Schrader Cellars has been developing a compelling portfolio of wine for more than a decade, with astounding scores and reviews that have broken industry records.
With grapes sourced from the famed Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville in addition to the Georges III Vineyard in Rutherford, Schrader is known for producing fine wine coveted by collectors around the world. Schrader also produces Pinot Noir from his Aston Estate Vineyard and is cultivating his Boars’ View Vineyard on the Sonoma Coast.
