Race two
The second race got underway at 11.56am in bright and clear conditions. The grid order was set by the result of Race 1, so it was Kevin Norville who headed the field off the start as they approached the Turn 1 banking. Liam Griffin in the #6 JWB Motorsport car immediately made the jump to take the lead and Chris Kemp moved inside Kevin at Kirby to take 2nd place. By lap 3, the two silver and blue cars of Mike Brown and Richard Taffinder were putting Kevin under real pressure, they moved past at the chicane. Mike, in the #7 MB Racing car had gone from last on the grid to 3rd place in only 3 laps, a great early charge.
#56 & #27 had a great scrap for several laps, with Kevin matching Richard, though eventually, the Hills Racing car began to pull away. By lap 12, Liam in the #6 held a lead of 31 seconds, however the team lost time in the pit stop, which played in to Calum Lockie's hands, who was now driving the #27 with some vigour. David Tinn in the #47 was the final car to pit during the 30 minute window, thankfully all the stops were above their minimum time, so there would be no need for any penalties.
By lap 22, Tom Black held the lead by 34 seconds over Kieran Griffin with Calum Lockie 3rd. Mike Brown was 4th, ahead of Tim Eakin, with John Dickson now 6th. Later on this lap, Calum passed Kieran to take second place and then started his pursuit of Tom. Tom had good, consistent pace at the start of his stint, however, tyre issues slowed him as the race went on, allowing Calum to catch and pass him on 31. While the fight for the lead was raging, the 4th place battle was no less intense with Mike Brown and Tim Eakin coming very close on a number of occasions, with Tm eventually prevailing.
At the flag, Calum Lockie & Kevin Norville took their second win of the weekend, ahead of Tom Black, with Kieran Griffin 3rd. Tim Eakin brought the car home in 4th, just ahead of Mike brown, with John Dickson taking 6th.
